Fans of The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest are flocking to the movie at a historic pace.
The sequel brought in another $62.1 million this weekend, bringing it's overall total to $258.2 million, breaking Spider-Man 2’s seven- and eight-day records for opening grosses. Pirates also had the third highest'grossing second weekend ever behind Shrek 2 and Spider-Man.
The weekends two wide releases, Little Man and You, Me and Dupree both posted solid openings, though well behind Pirates’ pace.
The Wayan brothers’ Little Man edged out the Owen Wilson'fronted You, Me and Dupree $21.7 million to $21.3 million.
The Wayans brothers’ previous effort, White Chicks, pulled in $19.6 million on it's way to a $70 million total haul.
Superman Returns' legs continued to falter, dropping 47 percent from the weekend before to $11.6 million. Superman's total now stands at $163.6 million in 19 days'$14 million of which has come from IMAX.
