Question: Should College Athletes Be Paid?

CS: “No, because they are students first then athletes. education nigggggaz eduction!”

JR: “no. (one minute later) actually yes, cuz then more college athletes would stay in college and get their degree instead of going pro after their fresh, soph year. wooo”

JI: “depends where and who. ”

JW: “yes, they devote workman like hours 2 a corporation why benefit from it.”

PC: “No, because its not a job it’s an experience.”

CZ: “its a privilege to play after high school. Free education is a payment an these guys get shit 4 free anyway. Look what money does to pro athletes.”

KH: “college athletes are usually paid through scholarships, equipment and meals.”

JM: “Nah fuck em.”

DA: “Absolutely, they put in 25 hours a week. plus they make the school money.”

DJ A: “no because then Crew would have to pay their players and that’s not a real sport”

AP: “No. There’s not enough money available considering how much money is spent 2 run D1 sports as it is.”

CL: “no because school spirit and pride should prevail over profit.”

RM: “if college athletes want to get paid they should quit college and go play their sport in Europe. If Europe doesn’t have the sport, they should just enjoy the discounted higher education.”

DR: “chest hair article is sent and college athletes should not be paid because colleges are not for profit industries.”

MR: “no they have their college education paid for which is a privelage on its own… plus my best friend who played football for unh (1AA) got paid like $500 a month for food, clothes etc… that is good enough.”

NJ: “No way, I wish someone would’ve given me a scholarship so i wouldn’t have so many loans.”

JH: “No. Its not their job 2 play a sport. Its their job 2 get an education

CB: “No, most get paid through scholarships.”

KA: “Nope because they are basically paid in scholarships anyway.”

GK: “Only if their school or league is making money off their jersey sales.”

AD: “No because college athletics is more fun to watch because it is for the love of the game.”

EF: “(yes but) only through scholarship: tuition, room and board no extra on top, too much politics.”

PK: “Nope, keeps their passion

  3. Great article! It seems it's time college athletes should be paid. The NCAA has held down this racket for a long time. If they don't change, more than $2,000 per year, they're going to fall. The debate over at TC Huddle got me thinking about this. I wondered what other people were saying and found your opinion.
