“Catch Some Meat” Is The Newest (and Greatest) Baseball Tradition

At PNC Park in Pittsburgh they are ushering a new and great baseball tradition called, “Catch Some Meat.” As first timers at PNC we had no idea what was going on when the PA announcer said “it’s time to catch some meat” so we were  little confused but it ended up being one of the most hilarious things we’ve seen after 10 stadiums on our 30 Stadiums in 30 Days tour. Here is how it goes down.
An awkward “Catch Some Meat” introduction video plays on the jumbotron. The video is typically sung and produced by a local Pittsburgh act and changes from game to game. We happened to see the gospel choir introduction that you can watch below.
If you thought the introduction video was weird than you’ve seen nothing yet. After teh video plays the crowd is in an absolute frenzy waiting to catch some meat. At this point we were completely baffled.
The team mascot jumps on the field with a pressurized t-shirt cannon and starts shooting tightly packaged hot dogs hundreds of feet directly at kids. If your eyeball is lucky enough to be at the receiving end of one of these meat missile you can plan of picking up an application at he front office to be a one eyed pirate mascot.
It really was one of the mos hilarious things I’ve ever witnessed and the video below totally captures the catch some meat experience.
