One of the funniest and unintentionally funniest men of 2013 have an equally hilarious connection. Will Ferrell, star of the upcoming film Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, revealed his hilarious meeting with Toronto’s crack smoking mayor and future Celebrity Rehab star Rob Ford on last night’s Late Show with David Letterman. Ferrell talked to Letterman about a stop during a big press tour he did during the summer of 2012 with comedian Zach Galifianakis for the movie The Campaign, a lukewarm political comedy about two rival candidates running for a North Carolina congressional seat. One of the stops on the tour included an appearance in Toronto complete with a big parade and a public address in which he was introduced by Ford. The mayor was already a pretty polarizing figure but the fact that It happened right around the same time that news had surfaced that Ford was caught smoking crack on camera didn’t make the crowd feel very welcoming.
It’s funnier to hear Ferrell tell about such an awkward moment below in the embedded video. The moment, however, does set up an interesting parallel to the new Anchorman movie since one of Canada’s more famous sons Jim Carrey also has a cameo in the Ron Burgundy sequel . He’s the head of a Canadian news team who shows up in a fight scene that’ll be familiar to fans of the first film. We won’t spoil it for you–except you’ll see how to use a curling broom in a gang fight…
