Trailer for 'The Giver' Is Hauntingly Awesome

The first trailer for The Giver has just dropped and we’ve officially got goosebumps. Besides The Great Gatsby, it’s safe to say The Giver is another huge favorite in the “required reading that’s actually awesome” list from growing up. The book won the 1994 Newbury Medal and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.
In case you don’t remember your reading from sixth grade, the story centers on Jonas, who lives in a seemingly ideal–but colorless–world of conformity and contentment. Everyone in his community is given assignments. Jonas is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory and suddenly begins to understand the dark secrets behind his community.
Our biggest question is, why isn’t this movie in black and white? Wasn’t everyone not able to see color? Wouldn’t this make more sense?  Regardless, the movie looks great and with a cast featuring Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep, we’re guessing it’s going to deliver.
