Releasing 1.5 Million Balloons Is A Bad Idea–And More Morning Links

In a Q&A this week, Tom Holowach explained his role in an event that released 1.5 million balloons over Cleveland. Holowach worked for 6 months to put the project together, designing a structure that could stand up to 90 MPH winds. The photos are spectacular, which can be seen over at The Huffington Post, however the event ended in tragedy. A storm moved in on the day the balloons were released and flipped over a boat with two fishermen in it, and the men were unable to be rescued because Coast Guard helicopters couldn’t find the vessel beneath the impenetrable mass of balloons.
