A.J. Ellis Sprains Ankle During Los Angeles Dodgers' No-Hitter Celebration

There are times where baseball celebrations go too far. That’s exactly what happened to Los Angeles Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis on Sunday while celebrating Josh Beckett’s no-hitter. Ellis sprained his right ankle when he stepped on a catcher’s mask while jumping in celebration. That’s a new one.
Ellis was hitting .170 for the season in 15 games, and had just come off the disabled list after missing over a month due to left knee surgery. He’ll now go back to the DL to allow his injured ankle to heal. Injuries are going to happen in any game, but we’re thinking that this is one that could’ve really been avoided. Ellis probably wishes that he would’ve broken the ankle now instead of just severely spraining it.
