Dave Chappelle is Doing Another "Block Party" at Radio City Music Hall

Dave Chappelle is slowly getting back into standup and he’s planning on celebrating one of his most memorable shows at Radio City Music Hall.
The legendary stand-up comedian is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of his stand-up concert film Dave Chappelle’s Block Party that was released shortly after his legendary meltdown in the middle of the third season of Chappelle’s Show. The film blended music with comedy in such an unique way in which one complemented the other and it sounds like Chappelle is planning to do that with his first big NYC stage show in the last 10 years. He’s gathered most of the names who appeared in his first film to perform at the Radio City Music Hall show such as The Roots, Busta Rhymes, Janelle Monae and Erykah Badu. All of them will perform three shows at the legendary concert hall, which is already sold out. Hopefully he’ll tape it and release it as a film so the rest of us can enjoy it. Here’s a clip from the first movie that shows just how well Chappelle blended his free-form stand-up with a live band. There are some NSFW words here so grab a pair of headphones if you’re at work.

The timing seems oddly appropriate and not just because it’s approaching the anniversary of Dave Chappelle’s movie. Poet Maya Angelou recently passed away and Chappelle had one of the most interesting conversations with her as part of a series for the Sundance Channel. Since both names are in the news, the video of their deep conversation is making the rounds again. If anything, it can help you appreciate why Chappelle has been gone for so long and the reason thathis fans still clamor for him to get on a stage and try and make us laugh.
